What we did
First we measured the turbidity of the water to see how clear it is . Turbidity is a result of an increase of "suspeneded solids" in the water . The factors that increase turbidity in the water is soil erosion , urban runoff , water discharge and algal bloom . These factors cause the water to lose clarity therefore it blocks out the sun from coming through which disrupts photosynthesis for the aquatic plants and blocks the beathing gills of aquatic animals .We took a sample of the stream in a jar to check if the turbidy of the water and compared it to the turbidity card and the sticker . The results from measuring the turbidity of the stream was 40 JTU. A typical healthy stream should have a low JTU.
Another measurment of turbidity is (NTU) which is a more prceise way of measuring water. As seen in the image the result that we got would be somewhere in the middle.
